EDWARD SEAMARK FROM EATON SOCON SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULTS IN PETERBOROUGH AND ST NEOTS

In a case that has shocked the local communities of Peterborough and St Neots, 74-year-old Edward Seamark, a resident of Queens Court in Eaton Socon, has been convicted and sentenced for committing serious sexual offenses against two young boys over a span of two years. The court proceedings revealed disturbing details about the assaults, which have left a lasting impact on the victims and their families.

According to court records, the first incident took place in June 2017 at a property in Peterborough. During this assault, Seamark engaged in inappropriate sexual touching of a young boy. The court heard that he also asked the boy to remove his shorts and pants while in an alleyway, exposing himself multiple times to the child. The young victim disclosed the abuse approximately one month later, which prompted an investigation and subsequent arrest of Seamark.

Despite being released on bail following his initial arrest, Seamark did not cease his offending behavior. On December 20 of the following year, he committed a second sexual assault, this time targeting another young boy in St Neots. During this incident, Seamark pulled down the boy’s trousers and engaged in sexual misconduct. The victim later confided in a family member about the abuse, expressing feelings of sadness and distress caused by Seamark’s actions. This second assault further compounded the severity of his crimes.

During police questioning, Seamark initially denied any deliberate intent to expose himself or to touch the boys inappropriately. However, he later admitted to multiple charges, including four counts of assaulting a boy under 13 by touching, exposure, and inciting a boy under 13 to engage in sexual activity. His admissions confirmed the allegations and led to his conviction.

On February 15, at Peterborough Crown Court, Seamark was sentenced to a total of ten years in prison. The court also imposed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), which restricts him from having unsupervised contact with boys under 16 and from forming any intimate relationships with the parents or guardians of such children. Additionally, Seamark was placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities.

Furthermore, an 11-year restraining order was issued to prevent Seamark from contacting any witnesses involved in the case, safeguarding the victims and their families from further distress. The sentencing reflects the gravity of his offenses and the commitment of the justice system to protect vulnerable children from potential harm in the future.
