EDWARD HAMILTON FROM PETERBOROUGH SENTENCED AFTER CHILD PORNOGRAPHY DISCOVERY
In a case that has shocked the local community of Peterborough, Edward Hamilton, aged 36, has been found guilty of possessing and uploading indecent images of children. The investigation into Hamilton’s activities began in July 2016 when authorities identified his IP address as the source of online uploads containing child exploitation material.
Following this discovery, officers from the police force’s Paedophile Online Investigation Team (POLIT) conducted a detailed operation at Hamilton’s residence in Oxney Grange, Peterborough, on the morning of December 7, 2018.
The search was part of a broader effort to gather evidence and establish the extent of Hamilton’s involvement in the distribution of illegal content.
During the search, law enforcement officials seized multiple electronic devices, including laptops and other digital storage media, for forensic analysis.
The subsequent examination uncovered a disturbing collection of 42 indecent images stored on Hamilton’s laptop.
Of these images, seven were classified as Category A, indicating the most severe level of child exploitation material.
In court proceedings held at Peterborough Crown Court, Hamilton pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images of children.
His guilty plea led to a sentence of eight months in prison, which was suspended for 18 months, meaning he would not serve time immediately but would be under supervision and subject to certain conditions.
Additionally, Hamilton was handed a ten-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), a legal measure designed to restrict his access to children and prevent any further offending.
The court’s decision underscores the seriousness of his crimes and the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to protect vulnerable children from exploitation and abuse.
Hamilton’s case highlights the importance of vigilant online monitoring and the persistent work of specialized police units in combating child exploitation crimes.
The community of Peterborough is urged to remain alert and report any suspicious activity related to child safety to authorities.
