EDDIE BUDKA FROM LONDON AND PLYMOUTH JAILED FOR CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE
In a harrowing case that spanned over decades, Eddie Budka, a man with ties to both London and Plymouth, has been convicted and sentenced for a series of heinous sexual offenses against young girls. The lengthy legal proceedings culminated in a 14-year prison sentence, along with strict restrictions designed to prevent any future harm to vulnerable individuals.
Budka, aged 53, was sentenced at Blackfriars Crown Court after a comprehensive 10-day trial.
The court also imposed an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order on him, which prohibits him from working with children and vulnerable adults indefinitely.
These measures are part of the ongoing efforts to safeguard the community from individuals with a history of such offenses.
The case came to light following a detailed investigation into allegations of non-recent sexual abuse.
In November 2015, a woman, referred to as Victim 1, reported that she had been sexually assaulted by Budka during the 1980s, specifically between 1982 and 1986.
Her account revealed that she was just three years old when the abuse began and continued until she was nine.
The final incident, which she described, involved Budka entering her bedroom at night while she was asleep and subjecting her to sexual assault.
Her mother discovered Budka in her room after the assault, and although she was told to leave, he returned later and got into bed with the girl.
Her mother intervened, causing Budka to flee the scene.
Further investigations uncovered that Budka was in a relationship with a woman who had a young daughter.
The victim’s mother contacted her, and the daughter later disclosed that Budka had physically assaulted her, though she did not mention any sexual abuse.
This revelation prompted authorities to review past reports, leading to the identification of two additional victims.
Victim 2, who was just five to seven years old at the time, was identified through a social services investigation initiated after she confided in her grandmother in 1991 about being physically assaulted by Budka.
When police contacted her in 2016, she revealed that she had been sexually assaulted at her home in the Stroud Green area of London.
She had kept her experiences secret for years, never disclosing the abuse to social workers, family, or police until the investigation.
The third victim, aged eight at the time, was identified through police efforts in 2016.
She recounted that in 1996, her mother’s boyfriend, Budka, had sexually assaulted her after tying her up for two to three hours.
She begged him to stop during the assault.
Her ordeal was interrupted when someone knocked on the door, prompting Budka to untie her and tell her to go to bed.
The girl ran to her room and hid under her bed, crying until Budka left about ten minutes later.
Her mother returned shortly after and was told what had happened.
A formal complaint was filed, leading to Budka’s arrest and questioning.
However, no charges were brought at that time, as her mother did not want her to endure the stress of a trial.
Budka’s criminal history includes living in various locations after leaving London in the late 1990s.
He resided in Blackpool and Lancashire before moving to Plymouth.
His arrest in Plymouth occurred on 18 February 2016, where he initially denied all allegations.
Following further investigations, authorities formally charged him with 15 offenses on 3 December 2016, including multiple counts of indecent assault and actual bodily harm.
The court’s verdict found him guilty of 12 counts of indecent assault on a girl under 14 and one count of actual bodily harm, while acquitting him of two other charges of indecent assault.
Throughout the proceedings, the court emphasized the severity of Budka’s actions and the lasting impact on his victims.
The sentence and restrictions aim to protect the community and prevent any future offenses by the convicted individual.
