DYLAN MAKEPEACE AND HIS SHOCKING SEX ATTACKS IN LONDON
A man identified as Dylan Makepeace has been sentenced to prison after committing a series of violent and sexual assaults on women within a span of just thirty minutes in London.The sequence of events unfolded in different parts of the city, with Makepeace’s actions culminating in a dramatic confrontation that led to his arrest and subsequent conviction.
The first incident occurred on the evening of November 27 last year in Bethnal Green.
Two women, who were returning to their home, noticed Makepeace behaving oddly near their residence.
As they continued on their way, they became increasingly alarmed when they realized he was following them into their apartment complex and even onto their floor.
This was despite their earlier attempt to ask him for directions to a different level within the building.
Fearing for their safety, one of the women began recording Makepeace on her mobile phone.
Her fears proved justified when he suddenly attacked them.
The women fought back, striking him with their phones and attempting to defend themselves.
During the struggle, Makepeace pushed one woman to the ground and pinned her down.
He then fled the scene after one of the women managed to hit him with her mobile phone.
Both women sustained cuts and scratches from the altercation, and they promptly contacted the police to report the assault.
Approximately thirty minutes later, at around 6 pm, Makepeace approached a third woman who was returning home from the gym in Mile End.
He followed her into her residential complex, and she quickly sensed that he was trailing her.
Once inside, she tried to position herself to avoid further contact, hoping he would pass by.
Instead, he grabbed her and covered her mouth with his hand.
The woman attempted to scream for help, but Makepeace silenced her by telling her to “shut up.” During the ensuing struggle, she tried to defend herself by hitting him with her keys.
Makepeace responded by physically assaulting her, including putting his fingers down her throat as she struggled to scream.
He also struck her head hard against the ground.
Following this, he insulted her with derogatory names and proceeded to sexually assault her by touching her over her clothes.
Despite the assault, the woman fought back bravely, managing to hit him with her keys again.
Her screams attracted the attention of some boys on bikes outside the building, who intervened.
A resident heard the commotion and came out to assist, taking the woman into their flat and calling the police.
The police arrived shortly after, having been flagged down by the young men on bikes who had followed Makepeace and detained him until officers could take control.
An identification parade linked Makepeace to the first attack in Bethnal Green.
He was subsequently arrested and charged.
At Snaresbrook Crown Court, Dylan Makepeace pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including two counts of assault by beating, sexual assault on a female, intentional strangulation, and section 20 grievous bodily harm.
The court sentenced him to five years in prison, with an additional three years on license.
Furthermore, Makepeace was ordered to register as a sex offender for life and was issued a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
Detective Sergeant Michael Dixon, who led the investigation for the Metropolitan Police’s Central East Safeguarding team, commented on the case: “Dylan Makepeace is very clearly a danger to the public and especially lone women.
He was opportunistic and violent in his approach.
He specifically targeted women as they returned home and entered private residential areas to carry out his attacks.
I want to pay tribute to the bravery of these three women.
They all showed incredible fortitude as they supported our investigation.
I am in no doubt that London is a safer place with Dylan Makepeace behind bars.”
