DUNCAN BROWN'S SHOCKING CRIMES IN GLASGOW: HARASSMENT AND VIOLENCE UNVEILED
In a disturbing series of incidents in Glasgow, Duncan Brown, aged 55, was sentenced to a year in prison after being found guilty of multiple offences involving harassment and violence. The first incident occurred last March outside Glasgow Central station, where Brown targeted a 15-year-old girl in a distressing manner.
According to court reports, Brown approached the young girl near the busy train station, calling her over in an attempt to initiate a conversation.
Initially, the teenager was confused by his approach and chose to walk away to avoid any trouble.
However, approximately ten minutes later, Brown re-engaged with her, this time asking if she had a boyfriend and making comments about alcohol, which added to her discomfort.
Prosecutor Mark Allan detailed the nature of Brown’s inappropriate behaviour, stating, “He attempted initially to touch her hand, pulled her hand towards him and shook her hand repeatedly.
He touched and stroked her hair and this behaviour made her feel increasingly uncomfortable.” Frightened and overwhelmed, the girl quickly fled into a nearby chip shop, seeking refuge from the unsettling encounter.
Staff at the station, noticing her distress, promptly contacted the police to report the incident.
During police interviews, Brown denied any wrongdoing, claiming, “I never did nothing.” In addition to the harassment case, the court heard that Brown admitted to assaulting his estranged son, Darren, aged 31, during an altercation in July.
The incident took place at a bus stop in Glasgow’s Trongate area.
According to reports, the confrontation escalated when Darren pushed his father away after an argument.
Brown then threatened Darren, stating he was going to be “slashed,” before physically assaulting him by repeatedly punching him in the head.
Darren managed to overpower his father, leading to Brown’s arrest.
Further charges against Brown include an incident in December of the previous year, where he was found in possession of a kitchen knife in a car park near the St Enoch Centre.
Brown pleaded guilty to all charges, which included acting in a threatening or abusive manner towards the young girl, assaulting his son, and possessing a weapon.
During the sentencing hearing, Sheriff Joan Kerr emphasized the severity of the offences, remarking that the incident involving the 15-year-old girl must have been a “frightening episode for a 15-year-old girl.” Brown was subsequently sentenced to 12 months in prison, reflecting the seriousness of his actions and the impact on his victims.
