RETIRED TEACHER AVOIDS JAIL AFTER INAPPROPRIATE ONLINE CHATS WITH DECOY
Duncan Brock, aged 64, a retired physical education teacher, was convicted at Glasgow Sheriff Court for engaging in online conversations with a police decoy posing as a 12-year-old girl.
During May 2019, Brock engaged in inappropriate exchanges that included asking for sexual acts with a hypothetical friend, requesting photographs of the girl in her underwear, and complimenting her appearance.
He also mentioned he was unable to achieve sexual satisfaction due to erectile dysfunction but pretended to be aroused to give pleasure to others and participate in what he called a "fantasy" role-play.
Brock's messages were extremely vile, including requests for sex and explicit comments.
Despite his long career as a PE teacher, he failed to recognize the dangers or moral implications, with prosecutor Jenny Reid criticizing him for not recognizing child protection issues.
Brock was found guilty of obtaining sexual gratification through direct sexual written and verbal communication with a police officer pretending to be a child, as well as causing the decoy to participate in sexual activity.
The court sentenced him to two years of supervision and ordered his inclusion on the sex offenders register.
