SWINDON SEX OFFENDER DR PRABHAT SAKYA POSTED INAPPROPRIATE PHOTOS ON SOCIAL MEDIA
A convicted sex offender from Swindon has been found to have uploaded numerous photographs featuring girls and women to social media platforms, despite his prior conviction for sexually assaulting women on a train. The images are believed to have been taken by Dr.
Prabhat Sakya, 50, who was sentenced at Swindon Magistrates Court to a 52-week jail term, suspended for 24 months, and ordered to register as a sex offender for ten years.
Sakya targeted women traveling between London and Swindon and was caught touching himself during an attack, with a noticeable bulge in his crotch.
Before and after his court appearance, Sakya maintained an active Instagram account where he posted photographs featuring buildings, art, and numerous women, many of whom appeared to be under 18 years old.
While capturing images of individuals in public places is legal, community members have raised concerns over his postings.
His photographs almost exclusively include females; males are rarely seen unless they are pictured alongside a girl.
Many images depict young girls in school uniforms or teenage girls walking alone on the street.
One collection from October 11 of the previous year shows two schoolgirls walking, with captions reading "Schoolgirls" and "Fair maiden." Weeks before his hearing, Sakya also uploaded an image showing a woman’s lower body, apparently taken while sitting next to her, captioned "Morning flirt." Despite his conviction in October 2021, posts featuring images of young females continue to appear on his Instagram account.
On New Year’s Day 2022, Sakya posted a photo of an adult woman wearing black knee-high boots, captioned "Kinky boots." A few days later, he added a photograph showing two girls, believed to be in their early teens, sitting on a bench at Swindon Railway Station.
An anonymous woman alerted Wiltshire 999s to Sakya’s social media activity several months ago.
Although the content did not technically violate the law, community members expressed heightened concern.
"It’s really quite concerning that a man convicted of sexual offences is out in the streets photographing young girls," she said.
"Something must be done to stop him; it’s creepy.
If he’s a registered sex offender, it should be expected.
The police should be looking into it, but I fear they won’t as they say he’s doing nothing wrong." Sakya resides on Bude Road and received his suspended sentence after targeting women on a train and engaging in inappropriate conduct during the assaults.
The case has sparked alarm among residents and advocates for community safety, emphasizing the importance of monitoring individuals with past convictions for the protection of others.
