DOUGLAS WHITING SENTENCED TO TEN YEARS IN PRISON FOR CHILD SEXUAL ASSAULT IN OXFORD
In March 2019, a man was sentenced to prison for a sexual assault on a child in Oxford.
Following an investigation by Thames Valley Police, Douglas Whiting, aged 36 and of no fixed abode, was convicted and subsequently jailed for ten years.
Whiting admitted to one count of sexual assault of a child under 13 and one count of committing an offence with intent to commit a sexual offence during a hearing at Oxford Crown Court on 18 January 2019.
The assault took place between 25 and 28 August 2018 in Oxford, where Whiting attacked a young girl by strangling her and sexually assaulting her.
The victim sustained bleeding to her eyes, along with scratches and bruises resulting from the incident.
Whiting was arrested on 4 September 2018 and was charged the following day.
After pleading guilty in court, Whiting was sentenced on 1 March 2019 to ten years in prison, with an additional one year on licence for sexual assault, and a three-year sentence for the offence with intent to commit a sexual offence.
All sentences are to run concurrently.
