Skelmersdale Child Sexual Abuser
In a disturbing case that has shocked the local community of Skelmersdale and the wider Lancashire region, 77-year-old Douglas Charnock has been found guilty of serious criminal offenses related to child exploitation. The incident came to light in June 2018 when customs officials at Stansted Airport intercepted a package destined for Charnock’s residence, which contained a child sex doll. This discovery marked a significant breakthrough in the investigation, highlighting the disturbing nature of his activities.

Following the interception, Lancashire Constabulary launched a thorough investigation into Charnock’s activities. During his arrest, authorities uncovered a staggering collection of approximately 6,000 indecent images depicting children. These images were stored on his devices and represented a grave violation of child safety and dignity. The police confirmed that this case was the first successful prosecution of its kind undertaken by the Lancashire police force, underscoring the severity and rarity of such charges within the region.

Charnock was subsequently brought before Preston Crown Court, where he pleaded guilty to multiple charges. These included importing an obscene or indecent article—specifically, the child sex doll—and creating or possessing indecent images of children on three separate counts. His admission of guilt reflected the gravity of his actions and the extensive nature of his criminal behavior.

In sentencing, the court imposed a 12-month community order, requiring Charnock to adhere to specific conditions. Additionally, he was ordered to register as a sex offender for a period of five years, a measure designed to monitor and restrict his activities moving forward. As part of the penalty, Charnock was also fined £2,500 and mandated to wear an electronic tag for three months to ensure compliance with the court’s directives. The case has sparked widespread concern about the presence of such disturbing activities within the community of Skelmersdale and the importance of vigilant law enforcement in protecting vulnerable individuals from exploitation.
