May 2013 Pensioner faces jail after historic child sex offences A PENSIONER faces jail after admitting to committing a host of historic child sex offences. Donald O’Neill carried out the crimes in Blaenau Ffestiniog during the 1970s, ‘80s, and ‘90s. The 73-year-old pleaded guilty to five counts of indecent assault, three of gross indecency and one of attempted rape. O’Neill’s youngest victim was five years old when she was abused, Caernarfon Crown Court heard on Monday. The three girls O’Neill assaulted are now grown women but the court heard that they had each been the victim of inappropriate sexual touching as children. O’Neill, who lives at Plas Hall Hotel, Dolwyddelan, was told by His Honour Judge Merfyn Hughes that “custody is inevitable.” He will be sentenced at Caernarfon Crown Court on Tuesday, 28 May. O’Neill, who is said to struggle with serious health conditions including angina and deep vein thrombosis, was granted bail on the condition that he does not make contact with his victims.
