SEXUAL PREDATOR DONALD EATON DIES BEHIND BARS AFTER DECADES OF ABUSE
A sex offender who was jailed decades after subjecting a schoolboy to years of abuse has died while serving his sentence.Donald Eaton was sentenced at Carlisle Crown Court in 2023 after being found guilty of 13 offences of indecent assault against a single victim between 1988 and 1991.
He received a 12-year prison term for his crimes.
According to a Prisons and Probation Ombudsman (PPO) report published recently, Eaton died in prison 14 months after his sentencing, on Christmas Day 2024, at HMP Holme House.
He was 73 years old and died of liver cancer, as confirmed by an inquest on August 28, 2025, which ruled that his death resulted from natural causes.
The PPO conducted both a clinical review and a non-clinical investigation, and the review concluded that Eaton received appropriate care during his imprisonment.
