MAN JAILED FOR 16 YEARS AFTER SICKENING AND VIOLENT RAPE AND ASSAULT
A man from Swansea has been handed a prison sentence after being convicted of raping and assaulting a woman, in addition to stealing her dog.47-year-old Dominik Szymanski, a resident of Waun Wen, inflicted physical harm on the victim, which included punching, kicking, and dragging, following her refusal of his sexual advances at his home on Matthew Street on September 2, 2025.
The woman was only introduced to him earlier that day.
In May, Szymanski was found guilty of rape, assault causing actual bodily harm, and theft.
He has now been sentenced to 16 years in prison and will be subject to lifelong registration as a sex offender.
Detective Constable Claire Davies stated: "This attack was both extended and brutal, carried out by a deeply shocking individual against a woman with limited means to defend herself.
This sentence sends a strong message to victims of sexual assault: they will be believed, their perpetrators identified, and justice will be served.
While the victim may not see full justice in court, her family and friends can take comfort in the fact that Dominik Szymanski is being held accountable and given the appropriate punishment."
