DOMINIC PLAYDON FROM CHELMSLEY WOOD SENTENCED FOR CRUELTY AND FRAUD IN BIRMINGHAM

Dominic Aaron Playdon, a man residing in Chelmsley Wood, Birmingham, has been convicted of a series of serious criminal offenses that have shocked the local community and animal welfare advocates alike. Born around 1982, Playdon, who also goes by the alias DJ Domstep, was found guilty of heinous acts of animal cruelty, as well as multiple counts of theft and fraud.

According to court records and reports, Playdon was responsible for inflicting severe injuries on a young dog named Sasha, a five-month-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier. The incident occurred in Chelmsley Wood, where Playdon was living at the time. Witnesses and evidence presented in court revealed that he had kicked Sasha, resulting in a fracture so severe that the dog required amputation of one of her legs. The injury was inflicted with such force that the trauma was considered to be non-accidental, raising suspicions of deliberate cruelty.

Gaynor Sutton, representing the RSPCA, provided detailed testimony about the case. She explained that the injury was so grave that the veterinary team at an RSPCA hospital had to perform an amputation to save the dog's life. She emphasized that Playdon’s failure to seek immediate veterinary care for Sasha compounded the tragedy, as she was left untreated for several weeks. When Playdon finally took Sasha to the vets, the extent of her injuries was fully revealed, but unfortunately, it was too late to save her leg.

During the court proceedings, Sutton stated, “Given the severity of the fracture and the fact that amputation was necessary, it is likely severe trauma had occurred. The lack of explanation and the quiet nature of the dog meant vets suspected non-accidental injury.”

In addition to the animal cruelty charges, Playdon faced justice for theft and fraud. He was convicted of three counts of theft after stealing bank cards belonging to his neighbors. Furthermore, he was found guilty of 15 counts of fraud, which involved using the stolen cards to purchase various items, including mobile phones. These criminal acts demonstrated a pattern of manipulative and dishonest behavior.

Following his sentencing, Mrs. Sutton expressed her hope that the punishment would serve as a deterrent to others. She stated, “I am pleased with the result, particularly the ban because it means other animals won’t be placed in serious harm. This is a serious offence, it was deliberate.”

As a consequence of his crimes, Playdon was sentenced to four months in jail. Additionally, he received a lifelong ban from owning or caring for any animals, a measure aimed at preventing further cruelty.

At the time of the offense, Playdon was living on Church Road in Erdington, Birmingham. However, by 2021, records indicate that he had moved to Chelmsley Wood. His social media presence, under the name ‘DJ Domstep,’ reveals that he identifies as a DJ, producer, and artist.

There are troubling allegations from an ex-partner, who described disturbing details about Playdon’s behavior. She claimed that he had admitted to strangling a puppy to death and then called a friend to dispose of the body. She also alleged that he had become violent towards another dog when upset about the puppy’s death. Furthermore, she revealed that social services had taken his son from him and his ex-partner at birth. The ex-partner described Playdon as manipulative, controlling, and abusive, recounting instances where he allegedly locked her in his flat to prevent her from leaving. These allegations, while unproven, paint a disturbing picture of his character and past actions.
