Dmytro Shevchenko Jailed in Trowbridge for Child Abuse Images

Trowbridge Child Sexual Abuser
In a significant case that has shocked the community of Trowbridge, a local man identified as Dmytro Shevchenko has been sentenced to a year behind bars for possessing and creating indecent images of children. The 33-year-old Ukrainian national, residing on Bond Street in Trowbridge, appeared before Swindon Crown Court where he pleaded guilty to multiple serious charges related to child exploitation.
Shevchenko faced a total of seven counts, including one of possession of indecent images of children, five counts of making indecent images and videos of children, and one count of possession of extreme pornography. The court's decision came after authorities acted on intelligence that led to a detailed investigation and subsequent raid on his residence.
On November 7 of the previous year, Wiltshire Police officers executed a warrant at Shevchenko’s home, uncovering a disturbing collection of digital material. During the search, officers seized several computers and related components. Notably, one of the computers had been disassembled and then reassembled inside a cardboard box, indicating an attempt to conceal or manipulate the evidence.
Further examination of the seized devices revealed a horrifying cache of 33 indecent movies featuring children. Among these, four videos exceeded two hours in length, while many others ranged from 45 to 60 minutes. The content uncovered was described by authorities as some of the most vile and disturbing material they have encountered in their work.
In addition to the 12-month prison sentence, Shevchenko was handed a 10-year sex offender prevention order, which will restrict his activities and associations for a decade. He will also remain on the sex offender register for the same period, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions aimed at protecting the community.
Acting Detective Sergeant Simon Guerri-Fear, from the Child Internet Exploitation team, commented on the severity of the case: “The content discovered in this case depicted some of the most vile defilement of children that we have seen. Viewing and downloading indecent images or videos of children equates to child abuse and fuels a demand for more content of this nature. We have specialist teams of officers trained to deal with all aspects of sexual abuse against both children and adults, and I must recognise the professional way in which this case was managed by the officers involved.”
