Ripon Child Sexual Abuser
In a recent case that has shocked the local community of Ripon, Dilan Anwar, a 20-year-old resident of North Road, was handed down a community order following his conviction for creating indecent images of children. The incident, which took place in June 2021, came to light after police officers executed a search warrant at Anwar's residence, where they confiscated multiple electronic devices, including an iPhone.

During the investigation, authorities discovered a disturbing collection of images stored on Anwar's devices. Specifically, they found one image classified as Category B and twelve images classified as Category C. The prosecution revealed during the hearing in March that these images depicted females aged between 10 and 17 years old, highlighting the severity and disturbing nature of the offense.

Following the evidence presented, Anwar appeared before York Magistrates Court yesterday for sentencing. The court took into account his guilty plea to two charges of making indecent photographs of a child, which he admitted during a hearing at Harrogate Magistrates Court in March.

As part of his sentence, Anwar was given a 12-month community order. This order requires him to complete 200 hours of unpaid work, emphasizing the judicial system's approach to punishing such offenses while also aiming for rehabilitation. The case has garnered significant attention in Ripon, raising concerns about the safety and protection of children in the community.
