Toxteth Child Sexual Abuser
In August 2019, a disturbing case involving two brothers from Toxteth, Liverpool, came to light when they were found guilty of sexually abusing a young girl over a period of several years. The victims' ordeal was uncovered after the girl confided in a family member, which ultimately led to police involvement and a detailed court investigation at Liverpool Crown Court.

The accused, Dien Quang Ngo, aged 59, and Nguyen Quang Ngo, aged 47, both residing on Northumberland Street in Toxteth, faced multiple charges related to their abuse of the minor. The court heard that both men had engaged in sexual acts with the girl, with the abuse occurring repeatedly in various locations across Liverpool and Wirral. The victim, whose identity remains protected, revealed that Dien had targeted her when she was alone and vulnerable, while Nguyen was noted to have provided her with money on several occasions, possibly as a form of manipulation or reward.

During the trial, the prosecution, led by Daniel Travers, presented evidence that the abuse was ongoing over several years. The girl disclosed that she had been subjected to sexual acts by both brothers until she finally confided in a family member, who then alerted her mother and the police. The court was shown WhatsApp messages in which Nguyen referred to the girl as a "kinky little girl" and mentioned giving her "some dollar." Nguyen claimed that he intended to type "naughty" but mistakenly used the word "kinky," and he denied offering money in exchange for sexual favors. He insisted that the abuse never happened and accused the girl of being dishonest, although he provided no explanation for her allegations.

In his police interview, Dien admitted to one count of sexual activity with a child under 16, which he justified as "consensual" and claimed it occurred only once. He had previously apologized via text messages for his actions. However, he denied seven other sexual offences. Nguyen, on the other hand, denied all allegations and insisted that the abuse was fabricated. Despite this, the evidence, including the messages and victim testimony, painted a different picture.

The jury found Dien guilty of three counts of sexual activity with a child under 16 but acquitted him of four counts involving a girl under 13. Nguyen was convicted of two counts of sexual activity with a child under 16 and found not guilty of three counts involving a girl under 13. Both men faced significant sentences; Judge Stuart Driver, QC, sentenced Dien to eight years in prison and Nguyen to seven years. Additionally, both were ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register indefinitely, reflecting the severity of their crimes and the ongoing risk they pose to the community.
