FALKIRK MAN DIEGO MORENO TRACKS WOMAN AT FORTH VALLEY ROYAL HOSPITAL AND SENDS OBSCENE MESSAGES
In August 2018, a disturbing incident unfolded at the Forth Valley Royal Hospital in Larbert, where a man from Falkirk, Diego Moreno, 43, engaged in a troubling act of online harassment targeting a woman he encountered in the hospital's waiting area.Moreno, who was present at the hospital to see a doctor regarding a knee injury, noticed the woman during his visit.
After his appointment, he took advantage of her public Facebook post made while she was waiting in the hospital to locate her profile.
Using this information, Moreno tracked her down on social media, initiating a series of unsolicited and highly inappropriate messages.
The court heard that Moreno sent the woman a string of obscene messages, which included lewd comments about her T-shirt and nipples, among other offensive remarks.
These messages were described as both disgusting and frightening by the authorities.
The incident took place on May 2, 2011, and was brought to light after the woman discovered the messages and reported the matter to the police.
Prosecutor Mark Keane explained that the woman, who was at Larbert Hospital for an appointment, had updated her Facebook status indicating her presence at the clinic.
Moreno, also at the hospital for his own appointment, later sent her a message that she saw when she checked her Facebook comments.
The message was removed approximately 30 minutes after she saw it, but the damage was done.
The woman, who had never met Moreno and did not recall seeing him at the hospital, was alarmed by the unsolicited messages.
Her concern prompted her to contact law enforcement authorities.
