DERRY TIFT FROM COVENTRY SENTENCED TO 15 YEARS FOR CHILD SEX ABUSE AND INDECENT IMAGES
A man from Coventry, identified as Derry Tift, has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term of 15 years after being found guilty of abusing three young girls over a span of more than a decade. The crimes, which involved serious sexual offences, were committed between the years 2001 and 2013, and Tift also faced charges related to the possession of indecent images of children.
These disturbing revelations emerged during a court hearing at Warwick Crown Court, where Tift, aged 49, admitted to a total of 16 counts of sexual offences against the three girls.
Additionally, he pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images of children, which had been discovered during the investigation.
The investigation was triggered when officers from the Online Child Sexual Exploitation Team executed a warrant at Tift’s residence in Coventry.
The operation was based on intelligence indicating that Tift had been accessing and viewing indecent images of children on the internet.
During the search, authorities seized Tift’s computer and other electronic devices, uncovering hundreds of indecent images depicting minors.
The case took a significant turn when a survivor of Tift’s abuse courageously came forward to share her ordeal with law enforcement officers.
Her bravery in speaking out prompted two additional victims to come forward, providing crucial testimonies that contributed to the case’s strength.
Following the sentencing on Monday, June 24, Warwick Crown Court handed down a 15-year prison sentence to Tift.
Furthermore, he was subjected to an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which aims to restrict his access to children and prevent further harm.
The case underscores the importance of vigilance and the bravery of survivors in bringing such offenders to justice.
