In a case that has shocked the community of Shrewsbury, Derren Tomlinson, a former Police Community Support Officer, was sentenced to a total of 11 years and four months in prison for heinous crimes involving a young child and an animal. The offences, which came to light in early 2016, included the rape of a girl under the age of 13 and acts of bestiality involving a dog.

Tomlinson, aged 44 and residing on Riverdale Road in Shrewsbury, had previously admitted to these serious charges during a court hearing at Shrewsbury Crown Court. The charges also included sexual assault of a child under 13, highlighting the severity of his actions. The court was informed that the offences took place in October of the previous year, and the case had garnered significant public attention due to the disturbing nature of the crimes.
