A man from Dundee, identified as Derek Scotland, has been sentenced to prison following a series of heinous crimes involving a minor. Scotland, aged 58, was convicted of multiple serious offenses, including the distribution of illegal substances to a child, engaging in sexual acts with her, and making threats to release explicit images publicly.

The court heard that Scotland, residing on Peddie Street in Dundee, initially befriended the young girl after she experienced a suicide attempt at the age of 14. Over time, he exploited her vulnerability, engaging in a number of sexual acts that have now led to his conviction.

Evidence presented during the trial revealed that Scotland had supplied the girl with ecstasy, a dangerous illegal drug, and had taken explicit photographs of himself in sexual acts with her. Furthermore, he threatened to disseminate these images to the public, adding a layer of intimidation and coercion to his crimes.

In addition to his prison sentence, Scotland has been ordered to serve a ten-year period during which he must refrain from any form of harassment or contact with the victim, under a non-harassment order. He will also be registered as a sex offender indefinitely, reflecting the severity of his offenses and the ongoing risk he poses to the community.

The case has shocked the local community in Dundee, highlighting the dangers of grooming and exploitation of vulnerable minors. Authorities emphasized the importance of vigilance and support for victims of such crimes, and the justice system’s commitment to holding offenders accountable for their actions.
