A man aged 52 has been sentenced to prison after being found guilty of committing eight separate offences involving child sexual abuse.
From 2008 to 2019, Derek McAvoy repeatedly sexually assaulted a young girl by touching her inappropriately and capturing photographs of her in various states of undress.
The girl, who had the courage to disclose her experiences, reported the abuse to Northamptonshire Police in 2019.
In response, McAvoy was arrested and faced criminal charges that included one count of sexual assault on a girl under 13, four counts of sexual assault on a girl under 16, two counts of encouraging or inciting a child to engage in sexual acts, and a voyeurism offence.
McAvoy, who previously lived in Northbrook, Corby, attended a four-day trial at Northampton Crown Court.
The court heard the case, and on April 2, the jury found him guilty of all eight counts.
He was sentenced to 11 years in prison on the same day.
