DENNIS ROBINSON FROM PETERBOROUGH SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL OFFENSES AGAINST 14-YEAR-OLD GIRL IN MAXEY
In a case that has shocked the local community, Dennis Robinson, a 72-year-old resident of School Close in Maxey, Peterborough, was brought before Lincoln Crown Court in November 2013 to face serious allegations of sexual misconduct involving a young girl. The court heard that Robinson had engaged in inappropriate and illegal behavior towards a 14-year-old schoolgirl, actions that have left lasting scars on the victim.
According to the prosecution, Abigail Joyce, Robinson had indecently touched the girl over her clothing and had kissed her on the lips in a manner that was clearly non-consensual.
The court was also informed that Robinson made inappropriate comments about the girl’s future, telling her he wanted to see her when she turned 16 and expressing his love for her.
Additionally, he pulled down her top, further violating her personal boundaries and causing significant distress.
The incident came to light after the girl filed a formal complaint in August of the previous year, which led to Robinson’s arrest and subsequent charges.
The impact of his actions was profound; the girl was described as being deeply affected, with the court hearing that she had engaged in self-harm as a result of the trauma.
Prosecutor Miss Joyce emphasized the devastating effect Robinson’s conduct had on her, stating, “She feels her life has been wrecked and she doesn’t have a life any more.” Robinson admitted to four counts of engaging in sexual activity with a child, covering the period from March 1 to August 15 of the previous year.
In his sentencing, Judge Sean Morris condemned his actions, describing him as a “dirty old man” and emphasizing the damage inflicted upon the young girl.
The judge also issued a stern warning, stating, “You have done untold damage to that girl.
You should hang your head in shame.” As part of his sentence, Robinson was given a three-year community order, which includes a requirement to attend a sex offenders’ rehabilitation program.
He was also placed on the sex offenders’ register for five years and was subject to an indefinite restraining order that prohibits him from making any contact with the victim.
The case highlights the ongoing issues surrounding the protection of minors from sexual exploitation and the importance of holding offenders accountable for their actions.
