DENNIS BOWSER OF SHOEBURYNESS SENTENCED TO INDEFINITE IMPRISONMENT FOR SEXUAL ABUSE OF CHILDREN
In September 2011, a man from Shoeburyness named Dennis Bowser, aged 44 and residing on Friars Street, was sentenced to an indefinite prison term for a series of sexual offenses involving six children.The court ordered that he must serve a minimum of 10 years but will not be eligible for release until it is determined he no longer poses a threat to the public.
Bowser was convicted of 14 separate attacks that occurred over a span of two decades, from 1988 to 2009.
These offenses included five cases of rape and five incidents of indecent assault.
Although he initially denied all charges, Bowser was found guilty after a trial at Basildon Crown Court earlier in the month.
In addition to the indefinite sentence aimed at protecting future victims, Bowser received a separate 20-year prison sentence for the rape of a girl under 15, which occurred in 2004.
