PERVERT WHO SECRETLY FILMED TEENAGE GIRL IN BATHROOM JAILED
A man involved in voyeuristic activity using a covert camera hidden inside an air freshener has been sentenced to prison.The camera was set up at his residence in Leamington and recorded a 13-year-old girl in the bathroom.
The girl noticed the device and adjusted its position to face upward before Declin Dreslin had managed to save a video clip from it onto his computer.
The 43-year-old, resident of Granada Way, admitted to Warwick Crown Court that he viewed the image and created indecent photographs of a child.
He received a 15-month custodial sentence, was ordered to register as a sex offender for ten years, and was subject to a lifelong restraining order banning contact with the girl.
Prosecutor Simon Hunka explained that over two years ago, the girl visited Dreslin’s home and went to the bathroom.
She became suspicious after seeing what appeared to be a black object inside the air freshener, which she discovered was a camera aimed at her.
She moved the device so it pointed at the ceiling.
After her departure, she messaged Dreslin to express her disgust.
Initially, he denied the presence of a camera but later apologized in subsequent messages.
The girl disclosed the incident to her mother, who confronted Dreslin, leading him to admit the camera’s existence but deny any sexual intent.
Police investigations included examining Dreslin’s iPhone, which contained searches related to spy cameras, as well as his desktop computer and a USB stick, all of which held footage from the bathroom camera.
During questioning, he claimed he did not consider that the camera would record anyone undressing and denied any sexual motive.
Although he had previous convictions, none were recent or similar in nature.
Defense lawyer Jonathan Veasey-Pugh stated that Dreslin worked irregular shifts and faced losing his employment and housing if imprisoned, as he planned to move away to avoid seeing the girl.
Judge Sylvia de Bertodano sentenced him, emphasizing the distress caused to the victim and reinforcing that such behavior for sexual gratification warrants imprisonment, sending a clear message about the severity of such actions.
