DEAN WARD CAUGHT IN NORWICH: ADMITS TO DOWNLOADING CHILD INDECENT IMAGES
In a recent court hearing held at Norwich Crown Court, Dean Ward, a 35-year-old man with no fixed address, faced serious allegations related to the possession and downloading of indecent images of children. The proceedings took place via a video link from Norwich prison, where Ward is currently detained.
During the hearing, he formally admitted to engaging in the illegal activity by downloading indecent photographs of minors and possessing a prohibited image of a child.
The offences occurred over a span of several months.
Specifically, Ward acknowledged that between August 2 and October 30 of the previous year, he downloaded indecent images of children.
Additionally, he admitted to further offences involving the downloading of such images between February 14 and June 9 of the current year.
These admissions are part of the ongoing investigation into his activities, which have raised significant concern given the nature of the crimes.
Representing the prosecution was Martin Ivory, who presented the case during the short hearing.
Ward’s legal representative, Andrew Thompson, requested that a pre-sentence report be prepared to assist the court in determining an appropriate sentence.
The judge presiding over the case, Judge Stephen Holt, agreed to this request and decided to adjourn the proceedings to allow for the report to be completed.
Judge Holt announced that Ward’s sentencing would take place on Tuesday, August 18.
He also acknowledged that Ward’s decision to plead guilty at the earliest opportunity was a positive factor in the case, which could potentially influence the severity of the sentence.
The case remains ongoing, with the court awaiting the report before finalising the legal consequences for Dean Ward.
