NANTYGLO THUG WARNED EX SHE WOULD END UP DEAD IN BODY BAGS
Grandfather Dean Lamkin, 49, from Nantyglo told the woman the police would need “bags for her body parts” after he’d finished with her.The chilling words were made in September when he accused her of cheating on him during their on/off relationship.
Cardiff Crown Court heard how Lamkin has “an expensive daily drug and alcohol habit”.
Victoria Maud, prosecuting, said: “The defendant left her a voice message which said that he would slice her and destroy her so that even her mother wouldn’t recognise her.
He said that bags would be needed for her body parts.” After he was arrested, Lamkin told the police he hadn’t meant what he’d said.
A few days later, after he’d been released on bail, he invited the victim to his home and asked her to drop the case against him.
The prosecutor said: “The defendant accused her of cheating on him and he told her that if it went to court, he would kill her and he knew people who could kill her.” After that the couple drank some cans of lager before falling asleep.
When they woke up in the early hours of the morning, he continued his menacing behaviour.
Miss Maud revealed: “He threatened her and told her that if she couldn’t get out of bed and reach the door, he would break her neck.
“The defendant told her, her face wouldn’t be worth looking at and that he would break her jaw.” She managed to get away from him, run home and raise the alarm.
In a harrowing victim impact statement read to the court, she said: “I don’t want to be here any longer.
I am constantly fearful of the future.
I’m worried as to what will happen when he’s released.
I am a shell of the person I was before.” She added: “He didn't like me socialising with other people.
Our relationship was toxic and abusive and it would be easier for me to do what he wanted.” Lamkin would also ask her for money to fund his “expensive drug and alcohol habit”.
The defendant admitted making threats to kill, witness intimidation and possession of amphetamine.
He had 16 previous convictions for 34 offences that included 22 for violence.
Lamkin’s barrister William Bebb said his client had suffered “traumas in his life” and has mental health problems.
The judge, Mark Powell KC, jailed the defendant for more than four years.
Lamkin was locked up for 49 months and made the subject of 10 year restraining order not to contact his victim.
