DEAN JONES SHAMES SWANSEA WITH SEXUAL ASSAULT AND COURT SENTENCE
A disturbing case has come to light involving Dean Jones, a man from Swansea, who was recorded on video sexually assaulting a woman. The court proceedings revealed that Jones not only committed this heinous act but also further demeaned his victim by telling her that nobody else would want her after what he had done.
The Swansea Crown Court heard that the victim, who has been left grappling with severe anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder, endured a traumatic experience at the hands of Jones.
The 34-year-old defendant, whose address is listed as Mill Street, Tonyrefail, was previously convicted at trial of sexual assault by penetration.
His criminal record also includes convictions for driving under the influence of excess alcohol and public disorder, indicating a pattern of concerning behavior.
During the proceedings, Tim Evans, representing Jones, stated that his client had already given evidence during the trial, and the jury had reached their verdict based on the evidence presented.
Evans emphasized that as Jones’s legal representative, he could not challenge the jury’s decision.
He expressed that Jones wished to put an end to his appearances in criminal courts, hoping this would be the last time he faces such proceedings.
In sentencing, Judge Catherine Richards handed down a prison term of ten years to Jones.
The court determined that he must serve at least two-thirds of this sentence in custody before being eligible for release on licence, after which he would serve the remaining time under supervision in the community.
Additionally, Jones was subjected to a ten-year restraining order, which prohibits him from making any contact with his victim.
As part of his ongoing legal obligations, he will also be registered as a sex offender for the rest of his life, ensuring continued monitoring and restrictions to protect the public and his victim.
