DEAN HOLLOWAY SENTENCED IN STAFFORD FOR CHILD SEX OFFENSES IN SHEFFIELD
On November 4, Sheffield Crown Court delivered a sentencing verdict for Dean Holloway, a 60-year-old man formerly residing on Balmoral Road in the Woodhouse area of Sheffield. Holloway pleaded guilty to two counts of indecent assault and two counts of attempted rape involving a minor under the age of 16.The victim, whose identity remains protected by law, was a young teenager during the time the offenses took place in the 1990s, as outlined by prosecuting barrister Nicola Quinney. The court heard that the crimes occurred many years ago, but the impact on the victim remains significant.
During the proceedings, Ian Goldsack, representing Holloway, emphasized that the incidents were brief and occurred within a very narrow timeframe. He explained that the attempted rapes were not successful attempts in the true sense, as Holloway was not physically aroused during these acts. Mr. Goldsack stated that Holloway had told police that his lack of arousal was due to his awareness that what he was doing was wrong.
Goldsack further remarked that Holloway is not a man proud of his past actions, which he committed many years ago when he was much younger. He highlighted that Holloway has carried the burden of guilt for a long time and was aware that one day he would have to face justice.
Described as a diligent and law-abiding individual, Holloway has never previously been involved with the police or courts. The defense presented testimonials from family members and others who regard him as an honest and well-respected person.
Judge Peter Kelson QC acknowledged Holloway’s remorse and noted that his early guilty pleas spared the complainant from the trauma of a lengthy trial. The judge also recognized that Holloway now resides on Kingsley Road in Stafford.
In light of all these factors, Judge Kelson sentenced Holloway to four years in custody, marking a significant outcome in this long-standing case involving serious allegations of child sexual offenses in Sheffield.
