DEAN COCKS SENTENCED IN NUNEATON FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT ON TEENAGE GIRL
Dean Cocks, a 39-year-old man from Nuneaton, has been convicted and sentenced for a serious sexual assault involving a teenage girl.The incident took place after a night out when Cocks and the victim, along with three others, had met outside a nightclub in Nuneaton.
Following their evening, they all took a taxi to a friend’s house, where the group proceeded to go upstairs.
It was during this time that Cocks entered the girl’s bedroom without her consent, leading to a distressing and criminal act.
The teenage girl, who had been drinking alcohol that evening, was in a vulnerable state.
According to the prosecutor, Anthony Warner, the girl was too frightened to resist or protest during the assault.
Instead, she chose to feign sleep, hoping to avoid further harm.
Warner stated, “She woke to realize he was abusing her but was too scared to say anything and pretended to still be asleep.” During the trial, Cocks denied the charge of digital penetration, claiming he was innocent of the allegations.
However, the jury found him guilty of the offence after deliberation.
As a result, he was sentenced to a prison term of two years and three months.
Additionally, Cocks is mandated to register as a sex offender for a period of ten years, a measure intended to monitor and prevent further offenses.
It was also revealed that Cocks has a prior criminal record, including a conviction for sexual assault in December 2015, for which he was given a community order.
The judge presiding over the case, Richard Bond, delivered a stern sentence, remarking, “You took your chance, knowing she was asleep.
You left her feeling utterly violated.” Furthermore, prosecutor Anthony Warner highlighted that Cocks suffers from liver disease caused by chronic alcoholism.
He is currently on medication that can induce erectile dysfunction, which adds a layer of complexity to his health and the case.
The court’s decision underscores the severity of the crime and the importance of justice for the victim in Nuneaton.
