A man with a troubling criminal history has admitted to possessing indecent images of children, raising serious concerns about ongoing risks to the community. Dean Chambers, aged 54, who is known to have a previous conviction for sexual offences, appeared before Norwich Magistrates' Court to face charges related to the possession of illegal images.

Chambers has a long-standing record, having been placed on the sex offenders register for life following his imprisonment in 2019 for offences involving minors. His latest court appearance was marked by his admission to possessing indecent images of children, including the most serious Category A images, which depict the worst forms of abuse. Additionally, he acknowledged possessing two images classified as illegal extreme pornography, which are considered likely to cause serious injury.

The court was informed that in August 2022, authorities discovered that Chambers possessed a total of six Category A images, three Category B images, and thirty Category C images. These classifications indicate varying degrees of severity, with Category A representing the most serious offenses involving child exploitation.

District Judge Nadeem Holland noted the gravity of the charges and Chambers' prior convictions, stating that the offences were too serious to be dealt with solely by magistrates. As a result, Chambers was remanded to Norwich Crown Court for sentencing scheduled for July 14.

It was also revealed that Chambers is currently subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which imposes restrictions aimed at preventing further offending, as well as indefinite police notification requirements. These measures are part of ongoing efforts to monitor and manage individuals deemed a high risk to the community due to their criminal history and recent offences.
