DAVID WILSON FROM STOCKTON SENTENCED FOR CHILD ABUSE AND SEXUAL OFFENSES IN TEESSIDE
In a disturbing case that has shocked the Stockton community, David Wilson, a 36-year-old resident of Essexport Road, was found guilty of multiple serious sexual offenses involving minors.The case came to light after a routine discovery by a mechanic, which ultimately led to a detailed investigation revealing Wilson's extensive illegal activities.
On September 6 of the previous year, a worker found Wilson's unlocked mobile phone during a routine job.
As the device was examined, a disturbing video depicting child abuse automatically played, prompting immediate concern and a call to the police.
This initial discovery set in motion a comprehensive investigation that uncovered a significant amount of illicit material stored on Wilson's devices.
Prosecutor Chris Baker detailed the findings during the court proceedings, revealing that the police recovered nearly six hours of child abuse footage from Wilson's two devices.
Among the material were 95 still images classified as Category A, which denotes the most severe form of illegal content, along with 197 moving images also categorized as Category A.
The total footage amounted to approximately three hours and 37 minutes of disturbing material.
Additionally, authorities found 119 Category B images and 118 videos, totaling one hour and 36 minutes, as well as 113 Category C images and 43 videos, amounting to 32 minutes of further illegal content.
Further investigation uncovered evidence of Wilson's use of search terms related to paedophilia on his devices, indicating premeditated intent and interest in illegal activities.
The court also heard that on December 5, 2020, Wilson engaged in online chats where he sent nine images depicting child abuse.
During these exchanges, he communicated with an individual known as 'IronMan,' and also interacted with a 14-year-old girl, persuading her to send him explicit images and videos of herself performing sexual acts.
Wilson's conversations with her included disturbing comments, such as expressing a desire to be her father and asking if she would allow him to play with her if he were her parent.
In addition to these interactions, Wilson attempted to solicit similar explicit images from another young girl, asking for 'sexy pictures' and offering to send her pictures of himself in return.
These actions highlight a pattern of predatory behavior and manipulation aimed at minors.
Following his guilty plea, Wilson was sentenced to a total of 68 months in prison.
The court also imposed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), which restricts his activities and requires ongoing monitoring.
Furthermore, Wilson is now subject to notification requirements, ensuring that authorities are kept informed of his whereabouts and activities to prevent further harm to children.
