DAVID SUTTON FROM NUNEATON SENTENCED FOR CHILD INDECENCY OFFENSES IN RUGBY AND NUNEATON
In a significant case that has shocked the local communities of Nuneaton and Rugby, David Sutton, a 57-year-old resident of Nuneaton, has been handed a prison sentence of 15 months after he pleaded guilty to serious charges related to child exploitation.Sutton was found to have engaged in the possession, creation, and distribution of indecent images of minors, including the disturbing act of taking indecent photographs of a 14-year-old girl.
During a police raid conducted at Sutton's residence, authorities uncovered a staggering total of 9,828 indecent images depicting children.
The scale of his offenses was deemed severe enough to warrant not only imprisonment but also a decade-long requirement for Sutton to register as a sex offender.
This registration is part of the legal measures aimed at monitoring individuals convicted of such crimes and preventing further offenses.
In a related case, Derek Hillman, aged 61 and residing in Rugby, was also brought before the court.
Hillman had previously asked the young girl to model for him and had received CDs containing numerous indecent images.
He pleaded guilty to possessing 13 indecent images of children and was sentenced to three months in jail.
Additionally, Hillman was ordered to register as a sex offender for a period of seven years.
Further details revealed that Hillman had sought permission from the girl’s parents to photograph her and had taken indecent pictures at her home on three separate occasions.
The girl’s mother discovered Hillman’s inappropriate behavior, which prompted her to contact the police.
This led to the police raid and subsequent discovery of the images.
Hillman’s computer contained not only images of the girl but also a collection of 2,228 other indecent images stored on CDs.
Both offenders received extended periods of supervised release, with three years on license, and were mandated to participate in sex offender rehabilitation programs.
The court also imposed an indefinite ban on any activities involving children, emphasizing the seriousness of their crimes and the ongoing risk they pose to the community.
