MAN WHO PULLED WOMAN'S HAIR AND MADE UNWANTED SEXUAL COMMENTS SENTENCED
A man accused of pulling a woman’s hair and making unwanted sexual comments during a train journey has been sentenced under the UK’s new anti-harassment legislation, marking the first conviction of its kind.David Stroud, 44 years old from Dartford, Kent, admitted to intentionally harassing the woman based on her sex after an incident that took place on a train bound for London on 3 April 2026, shortly after the law was enacted.
He had also previously pleaded guilty to another stalking offence involving a different victim.
During a hearing at Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, 9 June, Stroud received a community order of 12 months, including 15 days of prescribed rehabilitation activities and 150 hours of unpaid work for both crimes.
Additionally, he was issued a five-year restraining order related to the stalking case and ordered to pay £85 in court costs plus a surcharge of £114.
