Maltby Sexual Abuser
In a recent case that has drawn significant attention, David Stokes, a 48-year-old resident of Yarwell Drive in Maltby, was convicted of sexually assaulting a teenage girl and subsequently sentenced to serve time in prison. The incident took place on Christmas Eve in 2017, a date that has since become a somber reminder of the gravity of the offense.

Stokes's trial spanned three days at Sheffield Crown Court, where the evidence against him was thoroughly examined. The court found him guilty of the charges, leading to his sentencing last month. The victim, who is now 19 years old, has been kept anonymous due to legal protections that prevent the disclosure of her identity in cases involving sexual offenses.

On July 5, the court handed down a sentence of 18 months in prison to Stokes. In addition to his incarceration, the court imposed a restraining order that prohibits him from making any contact with the victim for a period of nine years. This order aims to provide some measure of safety and peace of mind for the young woman, who has endured a traumatic experience.

South Yorkshire Police, responsible for the investigation and enforcement of the court's orders, was unable to provide a custody image of David Stokes at the time of reporting. The case underscores the ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies in the region to address and combat sexual offenses, ensuring that offenders are held accountable and victims are protected.
