Penrith Callander Sexual Abuser
In a disturbing incident that took place at the McLaren Leisure Centre in Callander, Perthshire, a man from Penrith named David Robinson was caught engaging in highly inappropriate and voyeuristic behavior. Robinson, aged 46 and residing on Chestnut Close, was found slithering on his stomach across the floor of a family changing cubicle, attempting to secretly observe a young girl who was only 13 years old. The girl, whose identity is protected by law, was in the process of changing after a swimming session when she noticed Robinson's suspicious movements.

According to reports presented at Stirling Sheriff Court, the incident occurred on October 24 of the previous year. The young girl had just finished swimming and moved into a nearby cubicle to change. Unbeknownst to her, Robinson was in the adjacent family-sized cubicle. Witnesses say that Robinson placed his stomach on the floor of his cubicle and looked underneath the partition into the neighboring cubicle for approximately three to four seconds. The girl, alarmed by his behavior, immediately contacted the centre manager to report what she had seen.

Once the centre management was alerted, they confronted Robinson, and the police were called to the scene. During police interviews, Robinson admitted to the allegations and expressed remorse, stating that he was “disappointed in himself.” His guilty plea was for a breach of the peace, and he was subsequently sentenced to two years’ probation, ordered to complete 80 hours of community service, and placed on the sex offenders’ register for a period of two years.

Sheriff Thomas McCartney emphasized the gravity of the offense, describing it as “a very serious offence.” The prosecution, led by Gillian Swannie, highlighted the distress caused to the young girl and the breach of trust involved in such an act. Robinson’s defense attorney, Ken Dalling, expressed that his client was “deeply ashamed of himself” and that he “recoiled with alarm almost immediately after realizing what he had done.” Dalling also noted that Robinson had lost his job as a consequence of his actions, underscoring the personal and social repercussions of this misconduct.

Overall, this case underscores the importance of safeguarding young individuals in public spaces and highlights the legal consequences faced by those who violate personal privacy in such a manner.
