DAVID ROBERTSON OF FIFE CAUGHT WITH CHILD IMAGES FOR THE SECOND TIME
In August 2018, a disturbing case emerged involving David Robertson, a resident of Methil in Fife, who faced serious legal repercussions after being found in possession of indecent images of children for the second time. The authorities acted swiftly following intelligence reports indicating that Robertson's residence on Oakvale Road was linked to the possession and viewing of these heinous photographs.
Law enforcement officers conducted a targeted raid on Robertson's home, during which they seized a storage device and two mobile phones.
These devices were later confirmed to contain hundreds of images depicting child sexual abuse, some of the most severe category, including explicit content involving rape and torture of young children.
Despite Robertson's initial denial of viewing the images, he ultimately admitted his guilt during proceedings at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court.
The prosecution, led by Depute Fiscal Sarah Lumsden, detailed the extent of the evidence, emphasizing the severity of the material found.
She explained that the images were accessed between May 1 and November 1 of the previous year, and that Robertson had either taken or allowed the photographs to be taken at his Methil residence.
During the court hearing, Robertson's defense solicitor, Iain McCafferty, highlighted his client's prior conviction for similar offenses dating back to 2012.
He noted that Robertson had previously been dealt with through a probation order and that the number of images involved in the earlier case was significantly higher than those in the current incident.
Judge James Williamson decided to defer sentencing to allow for a comprehensive background report to be prepared.
Additionally, Robertson was ordered to register as a sex offender, a standard procedure in cases involving such grave offenses.
The case underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement in Fife to combat child exploitation and protect vulnerable victims from such heinous crimes.
