DAVID REID FROM WESTHILL SENTENCED FOR POSSESSING OVER 1,200 CHILD INDECENT IMAGES IN ABERDEEN

In a recent court case held at Aberdeen Sheriff Court, David Reid, a 53-year-old resident of Westhill, was formally charged and sentenced for possessing a significant collection of indecent images of children. The court proceedings revealed that Reid had been found in possession of a total of 1,259 such images, with six classified at the most severe level five, indicating the worst form of illegal content.

Reid, who has served over three decades with the National Health Service (NHS) in the equipment services department, faced serious repercussions for his actions. Sheriff Peter Hammond handed down a sentence of three years probation, emphasizing the gravity of the offense. Additionally, Reid was ordered to complete 240 hours of unpaid community service, reflecting the court’s stance on rehabilitation and punishment.

The court documents listed Reid’s address as Eastside Drive, Westhill, and detailed the nature of the evidence against him. Authorities discovered the images on his devices, which he reportedly downloaded but did not store permanently, according to his defense attorney Louis Moll. Moll stated during the proceedings that Reid’s initial activity involved viewing adult pornography, and the images in question were not intended for distribution or sharing.

Despite the defense’s claim that the images had not been stored, the court found sufficient evidence to convict Reid of possessing illegal content, leading to his placement on the sex offenders’ register for the duration of his probation period.
