August 2016 Man caught with indecent images of children spared jail  A man who was caught with indecent images of children just months after being sentenced for a similar offence has been spared jail so he can get the help he needs to address his perversion Swansea Crown Court heard that police investigating an unrelated matter took a witness statement from David Reaney, aged 51, and examined his phone, where they found 38 images of children, including six extreme Category A photos. Dean Pulling, prosecuting, said officers then searched his house and seized a laptop computer on which they found five more indecent images — along with details of his internet search history which showed the type of images he was looking for. Reaney of Cwrt-y-Wern, Lawrence Terrace, Llanelli , had previously pleaded guilty to six counts of possessing indecent images of children and to breaching a Sexual Offences Prevention Order when he appeared in the dock for sentencing. The court heard the police examined his phone in May 2015 — just four months after he had been convicted of 17 offences of making and possessing indecent images of children. John Allchurch, for Reaney, said the probation service had assessed his client’s risk of re-offending as high, and said he was due to start a community-based sex offenders programme “in the near future”. Recorder Gregory Bull QC told Reaney that members of the public would be “disgusted at the nature” of the images he had kept. But he said if he were to send the defendant to prison, he would not get the treatment he needed to address his issues. The judge sentenced him to a total of two years suspended for two years, with 18 months supervision. He will be subject to an indefinite Sex Offenders Prevention Order, and will be on the sex offenders register for 10 years.
