FIFE MAN DRIVES CAR OVER GIRLFRIEND SLEEPING IN TENT
A man named David Owen, aged 21 from Fife, has been found guilty of a serious incident involving his girlfriend Louise Graham. On the night of October 8 or 9, 2008, Owen took Graham's car without permission while they were at West Sands beach in St Andrews with friends.
During the incident, Owen drove the car over Graham while she was sleeping in a tent, causing severe injuries.
Graham described waking up feeling suffocated and burning, realizing she was under the car's wheels.
Despite her pleas for help, Owen initially refused to call an ambulance, fearing police involvement.
Instead, Graham was forced to drive herself to Owen’s home, where she was eventually hospitalized at Dundee's Ninewells Hospital with burns and other injuries requiring skin grafts.
Owen previously had convictions for housebreaking, breach of peace, and violent assaults, and was serving a four-month sentence for housebreaking.
The court proceedings are currently pending, with details of the sentence deferred for background reports.
