DAVID NWOSU SENTENCED IN STAFFORDSHIRE FOR SEXUAL OFFENCES INVOLVING TEENAGERS
David Nwosu, aged 21, who studies mathematics and computer science, groomed a schoolgirl online and engaged in sexual activity with her during their second face-to-face meeting. After the assault, he continued his predatory behavior by messaging another girl repeatedly, begging her to send intimate photographs.
Nwosu has been sentenced to five years in prison and will be on the sex offenders' register for life, as the judge concluded he posed a significant danger to teenage girls.
At Stoke Crown Court in Staffordshire, it was revealed that the 12-year-old girl told Nwosu, a Keele University student, that she was "14, going on 15" when they started communicating online.
Prosecutor Glyn Samuel stated: "He told her he wanted to have sex with her and would like to make a sex tape with her." Nwosu sent her two photos of himself in intimate poses and expressed love, telling her that if she loved him, she should send her own sexual pictures.
The girl responded by sending images of her bottom and breasts.
Nwosu later connected with a 15-year-old girl from South Wales via social media between Christmas and New Year last year.
He initially claimed she was 16 but persisted in requesting naked images.
Mr.
Samuel explained: "He would send her pictures of himself and ask her to send pictures of herself.
He requested photos of her breasts and bottom, was very persistent, and claimed he was 18." When the girl admitted she was only 15, Nwosu said he did not care and continued his attempts to contact her.
The girl confirmed that she had sent pictures of her naked breasts.
Nwosu also tried to persuade her to kiss a friend in a sexual manner, but she refused.
She never met him in person, fully aware that his intentions were sexual.
Nwosu, of Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire, pleaded guilty to charges of raping a child under 13 and inciting sexual exploitation of a 15-year-old.
Defence lawyer Rebecca Wade described Nwosu as an intelligent yet immature individual, stating: "The offences have brought shame on his family.
He is an intelligent man who has made serious mistakes which will affect him and the victims." He was also issued a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order, restricting contact with minors.
Delivering the sentence, Judge David Fletcher remarked: "It is quite clear you were attracted to teenage girls." A spokesperson for Keele University stated: "As soon as the university was made aware of this situation, the student was immediately suspended."
