DAVID MURPHY OF PADDOCK WOOD CONVICTED FOR SEXUAL ABUSE OF TWO GIRLS IN MAIDSTONE
A 20-year-old man, David Murphy, has been found guilty of sexually abusing two girls, with the abuse beginning when he was only 10 years old.During the trial at Maidstone Crown Court, the jury heard that Murphy was "aggressive and violent" when assaulting one of the victims, ultimately raping her.
Prosecutor Danny Moore stated that Murphy, of Le Temple Road, Paddock Wood, systematically exploited every opportunity to sexually assault both girls, including raping one of them.
The prosecutor noted that Murphy's behavior indicated underlying issues concerning his sexual conduct.
Murphy threatened one of the girls, warning that if she told anyone about the abuse, harm would befall a member of her family.
Mr.
Moore explained, "He was violent on occasion, unpredictable and seemingly a powerful influence on her." The victim described feeling helpless, saying, "She was a child and didn't know what to do.
She didn't know what to say or how to react." Murphy forcefully made her perform sex acts, displaying violent and aggressive behavior, including pinching her (leaving marks), striking her chest, and biting her lips.
Feeling trapped and isolated, the girl experienced severe emotional distress, which led her to self-harm and even contemplate suicide.
She attempted to resist Murphy by stating she was too young for sex, but he continued his assault.
She later expressed that she "would never forget what happened because she was in so much pain and in such a dark place," according to Mr.
Moore.
In addition to the abuse of the first girl, Murphy also touched the second girl inappropriately on multiple occasions.
This systematic abuse was revealed after one of the girls recognized the similarities when learning about rape in a school sex education class.
Murphy faced multiple charges: he was convicted of four counts of rape, five counts of sexual assault, and two counts of assault by penetration.
He was acquitted of one rape charge and one sexual assault charge.
Murphy denied all charges but admitted to one count of rape and one of sexual assault.
He was granted bail until his sentencing, scheduled for August 22.
