BLYTH MAN CAUGHT IN SEX CHAT PLOT WITH DECOY GIRL FACES SUSPENSION AND COMMUNITY ORDER
A man from Blyth, David Morgan, was involved in attempting to engage in sexual communication with a decoy profile that was pretending to be a 14-year-old girl named Lily.
Morgan believed he was talking to a girl of that age and attempted to arrange a meeting.
The chat, which moved to WhatsApp during the same day, included him asking if she had sex before, and he claimed he did so when he was 12.
He also sent pictures of himself, including one of him naked in bed with bedclothes over his private parts, and asked for nude images from the girl.
Morgan also encouraged the girl to perform a sex act during a video call, which was carried out, during which he was seen performing a sex act himself.
Afterward, he blocked her from contacting him again.
His details were shared with a vigilante group in the North East, who confronted him at his home in Blyth.
Morgan, who had previous convictions for indecent exposure and indecent assault from when he was a youth, admitted attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child and attempting to cause or incite a child to engage in sexual activity.
He was remanded in custody since April and was later sentenced to two years in prison, suspended for two years, along with 200 hours of unpaid work and a community order.
He is also required to register as a sex offender and will be subject to a sexual harm prevention order for ten years.
