DAVID MOIR SENTENCED IN IRVINE FOR CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE AND ONLINE INDECENCY CRIMES
A man named David Moir from Irvine has been formally sentenced after admitting to a series of grave criminal offenses that include the sexual assault of a young child, possession and dissemination of indecent images of children, and sharing inappropriate material over the internet.These offenses were committed over a period exceeding 20 months, with specific incidents taking place between December 2021 and August 2023.
During a court hearing, Moir pleaded guilty to approximately six charges, which encompassed the sexual assault of a five-year-old child during July and August of 2023.
He also admitted to possessing indecent images of children, distributing such content in August 2023, and sharing private photographs without consent within the same year.
The court proceedings revealed that Moir’s actions were deliberately aimed at instilling fear and causing distress to the victim, highlighting the malicious intent behind his conduct.
The severity of his crimes led to a substantial custodial sentence.
The judge sentenced Moir to a total of six years and six months in prison, with four years and six months to be served immediately.
This sentence was backdated to his initial remand date of October 10 of the previous year.
In addition to his prison term, the court imposed an eight-year sexual harm prevention order to restrict his future activities and ordered his indefinite registration on the sex offenders register, ensuring ongoing monitoring and public safety.
