DAVID MCCUE AND HIS SHOCKING RAPE AND SEXUAL OFFENSES IN GLASGOW
The victim of a deeply disturbing case of sexual assault and rape, which took place in Glasgow, has publicly condemned the perpetrator, David McCue, describing him as a cowardly individual who fled justice.McCue, aged 40, managed to evade police and court proceedings for two months after being accused of multiple serious crimes before finally being sentenced to prison.
The incident occurred amidst the backdrop of a high-profile trial held at the High Court in Glasgow.
Prior to the jury’s return of guilty verdicts, McCue chose to go into hiding, prompting reflections on his motives and mental state by his legal representatives.
His defence attorney, Sarah Livingstone, explained to the court that her client, from Springboig in Glasgow, suffered a “mental health meltdown” which led him to camp out in a forest area as a means of avoiding capture.
However, the victim and her supporters dismiss these assertions as nothing more than an attempt to excuse his absconding, emphasizing that his actions have only added to her suffering.
The victim was unequivocal in her condemnation, stating, “There are no forests in Springboig — it’s all complete lies.
He’s protecting the paedophile and rapist lovers who let him stay in their homes for two months.
Playing the mental health card is pathetic as well.
The enormity of what he had done has hit him and he’s run away like the coward he is.” David McCue, also known by the alias David Ross, was convicted of multiple sexual offenses, including repeated attacks on a woman in the Glasgow areas of Townhead and Barlanark, with some incidents occurring while her state of sleep left her vulnerable.
Additionally, he was found guilty of sexually assaulting a young girl.
These crimes spanned a period from 2010 to 2018, involving predatory and repeated misconduct.
His legal counsel in Inverness, during the sentencing hearing, attempted to provide context for his client’s failure to appear, explaining that McCue had intended to face the court but was overwhelmed.
“He was excused from a juror due to her conduct — shaking her head — and he felt matters were not in his favor.
He was overcome with fear of imprisonment and was also battling suicidal thoughts.
On that day, he resorted to drinking excessively and did not stop,” he said.
Regarding the sexual offenses, Ms.
Livingstone maintained that her client maintained his innocence, asserting that “there can be no mitigating factors to these offenses.
But there is an absence of anything analogous and there was no evidence in the trial that this was premeditated.” Judge Olga Pastportikov sentenced McCue to a total of eight years in prison—seven for the sex offenses and an additional year for contempt of court due to his failure to appear.
In addressing his actions, the judge described them as “despicable,” emphasizing the profound impact on his victims.
“You robbed a child of her innocence and left a woman believing she was responsible.
Both of your victims will hopefully be able to rebuild their lives.
Crimes such as yours must attract a custodial sentence,” the judge stated.
Furthermore, she ordered that McCue be placed on the sex offenders register indefinitely, reflecting the gravity of his crimes and the need for ongoing supervision and protection for the community of Glasgow.
