According to court reports, the victim, whose identity remains protected, was between the ages of 11 and 13 at the time of the incident.
She believed she was communicating with a 14-year-old girl, unaware that McCarton was posing as a peer to manipulate her.

These materials included explicit content involving minors, which he possessed and possibly shared.
The Gardaí uncovered these illicit materials during their search, adding to the severity of his charges.
