David Lowe

Rugby Sexual Abuser

November 2016 Pervert showed ‘no real remorse’ for sexually abusing two girls A perverted Rugby man who has showed ‘no real remorse’ for sexually abusing two girls in the 1980s and 90s has been jailed for a total of 14 years. David Lowe had denied a number of charges of indecently assaulting one girl when she was under 14 in the 80s and the other when she was under 16 in the 90s. But the 60 year-old, of Bath Street, was found guilty following a trial at Warwick Crown Court, after which the case was adjourned for a pre-sentence report to be prepared. And at the resumed hearing he was jailed for seven years for his offences against his first victim, with a consecutive seven-year sentence for his offences against the second girl. Recorder Andrew Smith QC also branded Lowe, who will have to register as a sex offender for life, ‘an offender of particular concern.’ As a result he will not be automatically released after serving half of his sentence, but only when the Parole Board considers it safe for him to be freed, and he will also remain on licence for an additional 12 months. During his trial prosecutor Sally Hancox told the jury: “These women have indicated how, when they were younger, he had behaved towards them in a way that is wholly unacceptable and sexual in nature. “He behaved towards them in ways they did not want and which is illegal, the way no adult should behave towards any young person.” In the case of each of his victims, when he managed to be alone with them in various circumstances, he touched them sexually and got them to perform sex acts on him. Eventually, her adult life having been affected by what Lowe had done to her, one of his victims went to the police – and officers then spoke to other women who, as children, had come into contact with Lowe. And at the resumed hearing Miss Hancox handed the judge statements the two women had made about the impact the offences have had on their lives. Amy Jacobs, defending, said: “While he has not completely come to terms with the verdicts, he is beginning to accept what he’s done.” Jailing Lowe, Recorder Smith told him: “These offences were committed for your own sexual gratification. “I am satisfied the impact of your offending has continued to this day. The effect on their day-to-day lives is inescapable. “I detect no real remorse on your behalf.”
