September 2010 Ex-Whiston hospital guard jailed for sharing child porn pictures A FORMER hospital security guard who was caught collecting and sharing obscene images of children was jailed for a year. Suspicion fell on David Langton, 56, after police discovered an O2 messaging service was being used to share child porn. When officers from Merseyside’s hi-tech unit raided Langton’s home in Sidlaw Avenue, St Helens, the ex-Whiston hospital guard immediately confessed to having indecent images. A total of 2,791 child porn pictures and movies were found on his computers and mobile phones, including 642 at the two most serious levels. Recorder John Jones QC Recorder also ordered Langton, who admitted 15 counts of making and distributing indecent images, to sign the sex offenders register and imposed a sexual offenders prevention order, both for 10 years. Recorder Jones said he accepted Langton had been trusted with a respectable job in a senior position and had been “hounded” out of his home. Michael Wolff, defending, told how Langton had “ruined his life”.
