DAVID JOHNSTONE FROM FIFE CAUGHT WITH CHILD PORNOGRAPHY AND INDECENT IMAGES IN DUNFERMLINE
In May 2017, a disturbing case emerged involving David Johnstone, a resident of Fife, who was found to possess an extensive collection of illegal and indecent images of children. The investigation revealed that Johnstone, aged 51, had accumulated nearly 14,000 indecent photographs of minors on his computer, alongside over 400 movies depicting children aged between one and 14 engaged in sexual acts.
These images and videos were discovered during a police search at his residence in Lily’s Lane, Dunfermline.
Further examination of his digital devices uncovered a troubling file labeled “Fife kids,” which contained photographs taken of young children in public spaces such as shops and streets across Fife.
It was evident that Johnstone had used images captured innocently by others to create and compile sexually explicit material.
Among the most disturbing findings was a file where he referred to a 13-year-old girl as “my perfect woman,” and had superimposed her image onto explicit sexual photographs, indicating an obsessive fixation.
During a court appearance at Dunfermline Sheriff Court, Johnstone admitted to possessing indecent photographs of children at his home and to creating or allowing the creation of such images.
The offences spanned from August 2013 to February 2017, highlighting a prolonged period of criminal activity.
His defense solicitor, Brian Black, stated that Johnstone’s obsession had spiraled out of control and emphasized the need for psychological help.
However, Sheriff Craig McSherry issued a stern warning, indicating that Johnstone was likely to face a lengthy prison sentence.
The court ordered a report to assess his mental state and remanded him in custody until sentencing scheduled for May 30.
