Balderton Rapist
In December 2012, David Holt, now residing in Grantham, is reported to be at liberty. Previously, in February 2010, Holt, a 65-year-old resident of Balderton, was sentenced to nine months in prison at Nottingham Crown Court for historic sexual offences. Holt had pleaded guilty in November to three counts of gross indecency committed during the 1980s, when the victim was between five and seven years old. The prosecution accepted his not guilty pleas on additional charges, including an attempted rape of a girl. Holt's barrister, Mr. Martin Elwick, noted that Holt had been awaiting his sentencing for several months. Due to the age of the offences, the court's maximum sentencing power was limited to two years. Judge Dudley Bennett commented that Holt had led a "blameless life" since ceasing his "disgusting" conduct. Holt will also be added to the sex offenders register for a period of seven years.
