December 2012 – David Holt is free and current location is Grantham February 2010 Balderton man jailed for sex offences A 65-year-old Balderton man has been gaoled for sexual offences against a boy nearly 30 years ago. David Holt, of Smithson Close, was sentenced to nine months at Nottingham Crown Court last Friday. He had pleaded guilty in November to three offences of gross indecency dating back to the 1980s, when the child was aged between five and seven. His pleas of not guilty to other charges, including an attempted rape of a girl, were accepted by the prosecution. His barrister, Mr Martin Elwick, said Holt had been waiting for months to learn his fate. Because of the age of the case the court’s sentencing powers were limited to two years. Judge Dudley Bennett said Holt had led a blameless life since he stopped his “disgusting” behaviour. He will be on the sex offenders register for seven years.
